The Arc Foundation is on the horizon.

The Arc of Volusia is currently in the planning stages for the creation of The Arc Foundation.

The Foundation, a separate not-for-profit organization whose mission will be to financially support The Arc of Volusia, promises to provide The Arc with the financial stability to ensure that its next 50 years of service to its stakeholders are as rewarding and effective as the first 50 years were.

As we plan for the future, we are also engaged in an aggressive fundraising initiative over the next three to five years which will meet The Arc’s needs related to expansion opportunities with which we have been recently blessed. This effort will help us build our skills as we prepare for the institution of The Arc Foundation.

The endowment to be created and funded by the efforts of The Arc Foundation is a fund which will restrict itself to spending between 5% and 10% of its earnings each year in support of The Arc and its mission. Only the interest from the fund can be spent, not the principal that anchors the endowment. This will assure that the Foundation’s original funds will grow over time.

A longterm plan for a longterm solution.

The Arc intends to serve Volusia County for generations to come, and The Arc Foundation will serve as an excellent means of offering our donors and supporters the option of providing a gift that will keep on giving well into the future and/or the opportunity to fund The Arc’s needs of the moment such as operating and program funding.

Our plans for The Arc Foundation include a separate governing board, the ability to fund $200,000 or more per year of The Arc’s annual operating budget, the ability to respond to significant capital needs of  The Arc as they arise, and the focus upon planned giving of its supporters as a continuing means of building the endowment.
