McKay Scholarship Funding is available for those who qualify.  If you’ve received a special diploma, you still may be eligible.

Vocational Training I
Serves individuals with severe or multiple needs.  Individuals may require assistance ambulating, attending to personal care, or may require behavioral management.  Individual program Plans are developed in conjunction with the individual and significant people involved in their life.  Curriculums redesigned to assist individuals, develop skills for independence for life, entrepreneurial training, self-care, communication, social-leisure-daily living skills, and development of fine/gross motor skills.

Vocational Training II
Serves individuals who are independently mobile and capable of self-care.  This program emphasizes transitional and vocational skills required to perform a variety of activities focusing on entrepreneurialism.  Individual Program Plans are developed for each person and on-site Adult Basic Education classes are offered with a curriculum in business and business skills.  Individuals in the vocational component of this program (Workshop) perform finishing work for area businesses and are paid according to Department of Labor Standards.

Vocational Outings
Serves Vocational Programs I and II individuals desiring small group (two to three people) community outings of their choices, with curriculums focusing on independence and entrepreneurialism.  Individuals participate on a rotating basis and work with program assistants to plan and partake in half day learning base community outings.

Behavior Services

Our psychologist and behaviorist will provide services to assist individuals to learn new behaviors that are directly related to existing challenging behavior or functionally equivalent replacement behaviors for identified challenging behavior. Behavior analysis includes evaluation of functional relationships between behavior and environment.  Positive reinforcement and other interventions are used to produce practical behavior change.

Mental Health Services

Mental Health services provide for persons with developmental disabilities and a mental health diagnoses to maximize the reduction of mental health issues to support their best possible functional level

Supported Independent Living

This program serves persons in Volusia and Flagler counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants of this program desire to live independently and be full members of their community. Supported Living Specialists provide support and training to participants that allow the person to realize his or her full potential. The support and training includes accessing affordable housing, budgeting, and health and safety issues.  The Supported Living Specialist provides participants on-going support and training to learn new skills; meal planning and preparation, access the community for shopping, recreation, use of public facilities, navigate system changes in benefits, develop social relationships, self advocacy and any other activity associated with living independently.

Employment Services

Phase I

This program serves persons in Volusia and Flagler counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants of this program desire to be full members of their community and in order to do so require employment to be self sufficient contributing member of their community. Employment Specialists develop a career plan with the individual. The career plan guides the job seeking process which may include using the Internet or newspaper to obtain job leads, develop resumes, or complete job applications and participate effectively in the interview process. 

Phase II

Once our participants have obtained employment, an Employment Specialists the supported employment specialist “works” the job with him or her until the individual demonstrates success and acclimates to the work environment. The Employment Specialist provides participants on-going support and training, to develop social relationships with managers and co-workers, learn new job skills to make career advances, navigate changes in the workplace, resolve conflicts or issues that arise and affect job performance, self advocacy for raises or changes and either travel training or assistance to coordinate dependable transportation to and from a job.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Department

The Arc of Volusia provides educational services through our ABE program in partnership with Daytona State College. The ABE program is fully inclusive into the vocational programs at the Arc. Our new ABE program generates excitement and enthusiasm among the consumers here at Arc.  There are 4 Instructional Specialists who have coordinated innovative instructional services that are designed to provide meaningful, educational services that are fun and engaging.  The classes are held in small group settings in various locations throughout the Daytona and Deland sites.  The consumers are learning or developing computer skills so that they will be able to utilize the computer to enhance their daily lives and they are also improving their employability skills through various vocational training platforms.  Educational activities for the Level I consumers are designed to improve their cognitive skills using animals and their environmental domains as tools for reaching their goals.

Admission Criteria

Admission into any of our programs is determined on an individual basis.  Individuals with developmental disabilities and related disabilities may be referred to a program by any one who feels they will benefit in our programs. Our largest referral source and partner the state of Florida’s Agency for Persons with Disabilities, will appoint an independent Support Coordinator, to work with a family member or sponsor, or by independent self-referral.  Admission is contingent on availability of program sought and by determination of our Admission Committee.  Individuals must be at least 18 to receive services.  There is not a maximum age.  If you are in need of our services or if we can be of any help in determining eligibility, please contact us for more information.

Tuition Fee Schedule

Fee schedules are student based with individual needs assessed by the public school system (Individualized Education Plan IEP) determining and calculating needs.

The parent/legal guardian does have the option to pay cash for services.  The fees will be determined based on IEP and educational needs for instruction.  The cost will vary based on 1:1, 1:3, 1:5 and 1:10 instruction.
